CHANDIKESHWARA

Chandikeswara is considered as the Guardian of Household, a rank he obtained from God in return for his devotion. He is always seen as a normal human being with two hands clasped together in front of his chest and an axe with a long handle resting on his left shoulder. Here the image is in tribhamga pose and the body is adorned with usual ornaments and the sacred thread. The sculpture is that of a two handed Chandikeswara standing on a lotus pedestal. The hands are in anjali pose.
